Is there a break between loops?

Race loops are 2.5 miles every 40 minutes. If you complete the loop in 30 minutes, you get a 10 minute rest before the next loop starts. If it takes you 39 minutes to complete the loop, you'll have 1 minute of rest before the next round begins. The 40 minute countdown clock does not stop.
